Adoptions in Liberia Update

The House of Representative's in Liberia has passed the Child Act and it is now going to the Senate for final approval. The Coalition of Adoption Service Providers is working to obtain a copy of the bill to see what was in the final bill regarding adoption. Please pray as we know that the bill was changed many times during the process and UNICEF had a great deal of influence throughout.

For those who are not aware, UNICEF and Save the Children have a great deal of influence in Liberia where children are concerned. I'm sure this is a good thing in many respects, but it isn't where international adoptions are concerned. Both NGO's believe that children should not be taken from their cultures of birth and strongly discourage international adoptions.
