Now What?

We saw countless needs while we were in Liberia, in particular for the children who are at the ACFI missions at the DHCV and the Mission for Deaf Children. Many of the needs left us feeling overwhelmed and discouraged, and yet, when we interacted with the children whose smiles and laughter energized us, we were reminded that God is bigger than the problems of Africa. As we come home and each evaluate what God wants us to do next, we have all agreed that the first priority is to ensure that the children's basic needs can be met at the missions.

There is a sponsorship program that Christian Adoption Services maintains, which is the best way to get resources to the children. You can sponsor a particular child monthly for $40, or you can give one time gifts as often as you like via the site. We have a Sponsorship Director at CAS who maintains the program and makes sure that sponsors receive receipts and communication from their sponsored children 1-2 times a year. CAS sends the money to an account in Liberia for the children, and we have another gentleman in the US who was on the trip who will be looking over the accounting books from the Liberia side to make sure that the donations are being spent on meeting the needs of the children.

I'd like to encourage you to go to: www.africanchildsponsorship.com to check it out. If you want to encourage others to as well, that would be great.
