Election Day in Liberia Peaceful but Uncertain

The UN was out in full force in Liberia during yesterday's run off election for President, but voters were not. I texted a few friends yesterday to let them know we were praying for them. One friend texted back that her family was especially concerned because they live in the area where violence broke out the day before. Many people stayed in their homes as a precaution.

The good news is that it seemed to be a peaceful day, and those who chose to vote were able to do so safely. However, Tubman has said his party, the CDC, will not accept the election results and will look to the courts to annul the election. He insists he intends to move forward peacefully, but whether or not his supporters will follow his public statements remains to be seen.
